Private Lessons in Piano & Voice Online & Westchester County ABRSM, NYSSMA, LCM prep available
Katherine Doe Morse is a versatile music educator whose style of teaching makes music accessible to children, teens, and adults. Lessons are tailored to the individual’s needs, and she is sought after for her expertise combined with her positivity and compassion.
When she received her Bachelors in Music Education at the Crane School of Music, Katy couldn’t decide whether she loved classical singing, piano, or choral conducting more. She studied all three, and continues to teach and lead in those areas.
Katy has served on the teaching artist rosters of Playground Opera via Opera on Tap, New York City Children's Theater, Highbridge Voices, 92Y, and the Metropolitan Opera Guild. She is a conductor and singer with the C4 Choral Composer-Conductor Collective.
Katy studied piano with Gary Busch and Julie Wegener, and sought out additional education in Advanced Piano Pedagogy with Donald Pirone. She became a certified Yamaha Music Teacher during her tenure at the Miredo Yamaha Music School, and continues to teach at Eskay’s Music Lessons and her own private studio in Westchester and online. While these are not her primary specialties, Katy's breadth of teaching experiences has called for her to teach guitar, ukulele, music theory, trombone, recorder, African hand drums, Dalcroze, music composition, and beginner band instruments.
As a singing actor, Katy has received training at the legendary HB Studio, where she studied acting under David Deblinger. She was Artistic Director for the Dutchess Community College Summer Theater Institute for several years, where she taught acting, musical theater, and stage craft to children and teens.
Katy is accustomed to teaching in a diverse range of student populations, from religious rural academies in New York’s North Country, to outdoor schools overlooking the Caribbean. She has years of experience teaching in special needs settings, and is particularly sought out for her private lessons for students on the autism spectrum.
In her current teaching, Katy is focusing on her first loves; private lesson teaching for piano and voice, and choral conducting. She continues to maintain her private studio online and at her home in Westchester NY.
